Booking Cancellations
We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair while covering our operational costs and commitments to our staff and partners.
Standard Tours Cancellation Policy
For all standard tours (Half-Day Sailing, Sunset Cruise, Full-Day Fishing, Island Hopping, and Mangrove Forest Eco-Tour):
- 30+ days before departure: Full refund minus 10% administrative fee
- 14-30 days before departure: 70% refund
- 7-14 days before departure: 50% refund
- Less than 7 days before departure: No refund
Lamu to Zanzibar Expedition Cancellation Policy
Due to the extensive planning and resources required for this multi-day expedition:
- 90+ days before departure: Full refund minus 15% administrative fee
- 60-90 days before departure: 70% refund
- 30-60 days before departure: 50% refund
- Less than 30 days before departure: No refund
How to Cancel a Booking
To cancel a booking, please email us at bookings@lamudhowadventures.com with your booking reference number and the reason for cancellation. Alternatively, you can call us at +254 710 622411.
The date of cancellation will be the date we receive your email or phone call.
Weather-Related Cancellations
Sometimes, weather conditions may prevent us from operating tours safely. In these cases:
- If we cancel the tour: You will be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule for a later date
- If the tour is modified due to weather: If we can still operate a modified version of the tour, no refund will be provided, but we will do our best to ensure you still have an enjoyable experience
Tour Modifications
If you need to modify your booking:
- Date changes: Subject to availability, date changes made more than 14 days before the original departure date are free of charge. Changes made within 14 days may incur a 10% administration fee.
- Switching tours: If you wish to switch to a different tour, this will be treated as a cancellation of the original booking and a new booking, subject to our standard cancellation policy.
COVID-19 Special Provisions
If you are unable to travel due to COVID-19 related reasons (positive test, government travel restrictions), please contact us as soon as possible. We offer flexible rebooking options with no change fees for COVID-related issues.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend that all customers purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes trip cancellation coverage. This will protect you in case you need to cancel for covered reasons such as illness, injury, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Group Bookings
For group bookings of 6 or more people:
- A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking
- The remaining balance is due 30 days before departure
- Cancellation policies match our standard policies above
