1. Booking and Payment

1.1. Bookings can be made online through our website, by email, phone, or in person in Lamu.

1.2. A booking is confirmed upon receipt of a 30% deposit of the total tour price.

1.3. The remaining balance must be paid at least 7 days before the scheduled departure date for standard tours, and 30 days before for the Lamu to Zanzibar expedition.

1.4. For bookings made less than 7 days before departure, full payment is required at the time of booking.

2. Cancellation Policy

2.1. Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the scheduled departure date will receive a full refund minus a 10% administrative fee.

2.2. Cancellations made between 14-30 days prior to departure will receive a 70% refund of the total amount paid.

2.3. Cancellations made between 7-14 days prior to departure will receive a 50% refund of the total amount paid.

2.4. Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to departure are non-refundable.

3. Tour Modifications

3.1. Lamu Dhow Adventures reserves the right to modify tour itineraries due to weather conditions, safety concerns, or other unforeseen circumstances.

3.2. If significant changes are necessary before departure, customers will be notified and offered the choice of accepting the modified tour, rebooking for a different date, or receiving a full refund.

3.3. No refunds will be provided for changes made during a tour due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control.

4. Safety and Responsibility

4.1. Participants must abide by all safety instructions provided by our guides and crew.

4.2. All participants will be required to wear life jackets while aboard the dhow when instructed by the crew.

4.3. Lamu Dhow Adventures is not responsible for injuries, illness, or loss of personal belongings that occur during tours.

4.4. Participants are strongly advised to obtain travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, evacuation, and trip cancellation.

4.5. Lamu Dhow Adventures reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or who behaves in a manner that endangers themselves or others.

5. Health Requirements

5.1. Participants should be in good physical condition for the level of activity required by their chosen tour.

5.2. Participants should inform Lamu Dhow Adventures of any medical conditions, allergies, or dietary restrictions at the time of booking.

5.3. Pregnant women and individuals with serious medical conditions should consult with a doctor before participating in our tours.

6. Photography and Marketing

6.1. Lamu Dhow Adventures reserves the right to take photographs during tours and use them for promotional purposes, including on our website and social media.

6.2. Participants who do not wish to be photographed should notify our staff at the beginning of the tour.

7. Complaints and Dispute Resolution

7.1. Any complaints or concerns about a tour should be reported to the guide or crew immediately so they can be addressed promptly.

7.2. If issues cannot be resolved during the tour, complaints should be submitted in writing to info@lamudhowadventures.com within 14 days of tour completion.

7.3. Lamu Dhow Adventures will respond to all complaints within 30 days.

8. Governing Law

8.1. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Kenya.

8.2. Any disputes arising from these terms will be resolved through Kenyan courts.
